Folliculitis / Follicultis Barbae/ Shavers Rash (Follic/Shavers rash)
Folliculitis and Folliculitis Barbae
A skin condition associated with shaving and hair removal. Usually found on the face, bikini lines and bottoms.
What is it?
These are two common skin conditions associated with shaving and hair removal. Men are likely to see this condition on their faces ("shavers rash") where pimples can appear as little red bumps and when infected, white heads. They can be itchy, painful and unsightly.
How it is caused?
Folliculitis is caused by a bacterial infection of hair follicles. It is also caused by viruses, fungi and inflammation from ingrown hairs. Scratching the skin with dirty fingernails, sharing towels or razors certainly contributes to it's arrival on your skin. People who partake in sweaty workouts, sit for long periods on time or wear pants that hold sweat will see these pimples on their bottoms.
How do you prevent it?
Prep your skin before you work out, shave, wax or do anything that involves friction or sweating - remember this condition affects the hair follicle! The antimicrobial ingredients found in Buzz off Bumps preps skin before AND after sweaty workouts, pre and post shaving/waxing etc. by annihilating bacteria and calming inflammation. Keep skin clean and clear of bacteria and inflammation at all times. Wear sweat wicking pants during workouts and try not to wear tight pants all of the time. Avoid hot tubs that look questionable and please do not share razors!
How do you treat it?
Use our bacteria busting Buzz off Bumps pads to treat any areas of shavers rash, pimples on the bottom and general irritation generated from the hair follicle. Wipe skin before and after shaving, waxing, sweaty workouts, long flights and sitting for long periods of time. The oatmeal and soothing ingredients in Buzz off Bumps also ensures your skin stays moisturized and prevents unnecessary itching!
